Continuous new development of
medical technologies brings a lot of new challenges to the
materials it used. Our task is to provide accurate solutions
to these. We, the High Performance Polymers Business Line of
Evonik Degussa, manufacture various high performance
specialty polyamides, polyamide 12 coating powders,
polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polyether ether ketone |
(PEEK) compounds and
polymethacrylimide (PMI) rigid foam as well as polyphenylene
sulfone (PPSU) sheets which are used in the medical sector-High-transparency
TROGAMID® CX helps produce infusion and transfusion components
that are resistant to chemicals and stress cracking, as well as
functional parts in dialysis sets. Their high transparency makes
them ideal for applications related to optical sensors.
Catheters made of VESTAMID® are pliant and flexible, with high
bursting strength. Dimensionally stable housings such as
hemodialysis transducer protectors can be made from VESTODUR®.
Metal coated with VESTOSINT® powders possess a hygienic
non-porous surface, which can replace stainless steel yet show
even better other properties like low thermal conductivity and
sliding friction, etc. Because of the high bio-compatibility of
PEEK, VESTAKEEP® will be suitable for, e.g., rigid tubes for
minimal invasive surgery. Furthermore, our ROHACELL® rigid foam
has high strength while remaining light weight and can be used
to produce medical table tops. EUROPLEX® PPSU sheet has high
impact strength and heat distortion temperature. Those
properties make it the best choice for manufacturing
sterilizable trays and containers.

After getting his Ph.D degree from
Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany in
2005, Dr. Shengjun Tian joined High Performance Polymers
Business Line of Evonik Degussa GmbH (previous Degussa). In the
same year, he was transferred to Shanghai as Director for
Lifestyle Business in Asia/Pacific region. And Medical and
Health Care business is part of his responsibility. |
